Avon, CO| The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch
To be completely honest, I've never stayed at a Ritz-Carlton property that wasn't utterly spectacular at every turn from personalized service to beautifully appointed public and private spaces. One of the coolest things about The Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch is how dramatically the resort—and the activities—change with the seasons. In winter, of course, you'd be hard-pressed to finder better skiing and snow-related recreation, but summer has plenty of perks, too.
Nestled into the trees and dramatic mountains on all sides, simply driving up to the resort had me pulling over frequently to take photos of the property because it looks like something out of a movie. Of course, whether you're a true VIP or simply wish to be treated like one for a few days, you'll be pampered from the moment you step out of the car. Many rooms feature a fireplace or walk-out balcony (and 35 rooms have both!) Adults-only offerings only add to the tranquility and sense of complete and total relaxation.

5 Reasons to Visit Ritz-Carlton Bachelor Gulch
Adults-Only Spa
Fortunately, spas are almost always adults-only havens and this 21,000-square-foot oasis keeps that tradition alive with its 18+ policy. From the co-ed grotto to separate women's and men's wet areas with saunas, steam rooms, and plunge pools, rejuvenation can be experienced long before and after that serene massage or revitalizing facial. A well-appointed fitness center also includes group classes (yoga, pilates, etc.) that are included as part of the daily resort fee. |
Bachelors Lounge
It should go without saying that bars don't make the best environment for children, yet I can't tell you how many times I've slammed back-to-back Old Fashioneds because of a screaming baby at the bar. Well, fear not guests of Bachelors Lounge. This cozy indoor/outdoor cocktail and cigar den has the adults-only vibe down to a science. And don't worry, it's strictly 21-and-over, so you can savor every sip of that drink with the need to chug-a-lug. Whether you're looking to aprés ski or aprés afternoon nap, this is the spot. |
Summertime
Long after the last bits of snow have melted and nourished the evergreens for the mild days of summer ahead, this property can be enjoyed without ever having to strap yourself into skis. Swimming, hiking, biking, sunset strolls, and picnics are but a handful of ways to soak up the sun and fill your lungs with that delightfully clean, pine-and-wildflower-scented mountain air. |
Bachelor & Belle
There's nothing "adult" about this except for the fact that staying at a resort with resident dogs makes missing mine a little less emotional. Here, Bernese Mountain Dogs Bachelor and Belle mingle with guests of the two-legged and four-legged variety. Yep, you can bring your own pooch to this property if you're so inclined. |
Anderson's Cabin
Why do I crave pancakes every time I see a log cabin? But you'll be able to experience far more haute cuisine at this charming on-property cabin, once the home to John Anderson (one of seven bachelors who settled the land in the early 1900s and the collective namesake for Bachelor Gulch). Whether you want to schedule a spectacular romantic dinner for two or a gathering of up to 10 people, you can get a glorious private dining experience that's every bit as memorable in summer as it is in winter. |
