Five-Star Island Paradise

Nevis | Four Seasons Resort Nevis

Don't just leave the kids at home for this vacation, also leave behind all previously held conceptions about Caribbean destinations. Thanks to the five-star service and accommodations of Four Seasons Resort Nevis and its secluded local several miles off St. Kitts, you'll see the crystal clear blue waters of the West Indies in a whole new light. (But it's a strong light, so make sure to use a high SPF!) After landing at the airport in St. Kitts, you'll be whisked away via shuttle to the pier where a Four Seasons boat awaits (with cocktails) to transport you to a lush tropical island in the shadows of Nevis Peak, a green volcano that towers over the landscape.

After being greeted on the dock by a staff member, you'll soon settle into your room and begin dreaming of all the possibilities for adventure and relaxation. Depending on your definition, that could be diving with the hotel chef to catch your own dinner, kayaking in open waters, hiking to a waterfall, taking a helicopter tour of neighboring island Montserrat's volcano, enjoying a round of golf, dining around on a culinary crawl—or simply floating in the calm ocean filled with undersea life (including live sea dollars).

Celebrities often dock their yachts in the waters just offshore from the property and you might see one dining at one of the resort's many restaurants, but you're also just as likely to see them at the charming, ramshackle Sunshines just a short walk down the beach. Just beware of the Killer Bees (the cocktails, not the insects) because it only takes one to catch a buzz. Besides, the breathtaking scenery here is enough to put your mind in an altered state. -Steven Lindsey

5 Reasons to Visit Four Seasons Resort Nevis

Picture
Private Residence Rentals
Seasonality truly dictates what times of year you might find more children on property than others, but one sure way to have a truly adult experience is to rent one of the private residences. From small retreats to multi-bedroom estates, you'll enjoy amenities including full kitchens, large living spaces and in most instances, some sort of pool or other watery oasis. Best of all, the Four Seasons Resort Nevis amenities are yours to enjoy, too.

Spa Under the StarsChildren under 16 aren't ever allowed in the spa's lush outdoor gardens, but there's an experience that takes adulting (and romance) to new levels. Each night, one couple gets private access to the spa facilities (Based on availability, so request in advance). The evening includes a bottle of wine, candlelit dinner, signature massage for two and the chance to gaze at the stars from one of the many outdoor pools and tubs. Just you, your significant other and Mother Nature. Talk about a threesome.

Reflection Pool

With three pools on property, there's something for everyone looking to get wet and wild—or wet and not wild at all. Two of the trio welcome children, so for a true escape to tranquility (and a frosty beverage or three), this infinity edge pool offers grownups views of the sparkling sea in one direction and Nevis Peak in the other.

Monkey Business

Legend has it (and probably some factual statistics, too) that monkeys outnumber people on the island by a significant margin. So spotting one romping around the resort isn't entirely unusual. But if you head to the golf course near dusk, they come out in droves ready to frolic, pose for photos and, stereotypically enough, eat all the bananas you can give them.

Sea Turtle Conservation

On our visit to the resort, we had the unique, once-in-a-lifetime experience of helping mama sea turtles get up over cliffs to lay their eggs in a safe spot. While working with a conservation group, we were able to get up-close and personal with these massive-yet-graceful beasts, then follow their ocean journey online after being tagged with GPS units to track their every move. This typically takes place in July, but inquire with the resort before booking to ensure your chance to be a part of this incredible animal interaction.

In addition to writing about vacation experiences paid for with their own money, writers for Travel Like An Adult often travel at the expense of featured properties or destinations in exchange for coverage consideration. However, the Travel Like An Adult editors will never publish a recommendation for any reason if we do not find the vacation experience up to our standards. We provide honest feedback and will never recommend a place simply because we stayed there for free or at a discount. Similarly, sponsored posts are marked accordingly. Thank you!
