All Wine,  No Whine

Oak Farm Vineyards | Lodi, California

Picture
When it comes to enjoying a fine glass of wine, few things can ruin the moment more than a child running between tables hurling grapes he just stole from the vineyard (something that's happened in my presence before). One of the most annoying trends in wineries is the need to be family-friendly, some of them going so far as constructing actual children's playgrounds. At. A. Winery.

Fortunately, there are places like Oak Farm Vineyards that maintain the sanctity of adulting while consuming adult beverages with other adults. A strict, 21-and-over policy is posted before you can even drive onto the property and the message is repeated at several points along the way. So next time you're in Lodi and want some fantastic wines without little ones running amok anywhere in your presence, this is your place. (And no, their adorable house dog Bernie doesn't count.) –Steven Lindsey

5 Reasons to Visit Oak Farm Vineyards

$10 Tastings

Free tastings at wineries are as rare as unicorns these days, but we have no problem paying a nominal price to sample some exquisite wines. Here, the $10 tasting includes 6 wines from Albariño to Zinfandel. Then sit back with a full glass or bottle of your favorite.

Tasting room open daily from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (last pour at 4:45 p.m.)

Awesome Snacks
Restrictive permitting laws keep most wineries from offering full food service, which can lead to a faster buzz (that could be a positive or a negative depending on your perspective—and whether or not you're driving!) Fortunately, this winery can offer snacks such as cheese and charcuterie trays -- or feel free to bring your own nibbles and let the experts pair one of the Oak Farm Vineyards wines for you.

Great Outdoor Spaces
Spending time in California should always include spending as much time al fresco as possible and the multiple patios here do not disappoint in the slightest. Even in chillier weather, they have fireplaces and heaters to keep you warm. I prefer a nice red to do that job, but fire definitely works faster.

Romantic Weddings

With many settings to choose from, Oak Farm Vineyards makes for the ideal centerpiece for a destination ceremony. Plus, they have a dedicated events coordinator, Sarah Jones, who can handle every little detail to make the big day absolutely magical. And more than a little wine-fueled.

Event Barn

Oak Farm Vineyards brings people together for more than just weddings, too. If you're looking for a fantastic place to celebrate a birthday, anniversary or even a divorce, Sarah has you covered here, too. The event barn makes for a perfect place for larger events, including corporate gatherings, with a rustic-chic charm that can't be duplicated.
In addition to writing about vacation experiences paid for with their own money, writers for Travel Like An Adult often travel at the expense of featured properties or destinations in exchange for coverage consideration. However, the Travel Like An Adult editors will never publish a recommendation for any reason if we do not find the vacation experience up to our standards. We provide honest feedback and will never recommend a place simply because we stayed there for free or at a discount. Similarly, sponsored posts are marked accordingly. Thank you!
