A different landscape than you'd expect in Hawaii (or Lanai to be more specific) | Photo courtesy of Four Seasons
One of my fondest memories of a visit to Hawaii a few summers ago was spending a few pampered days on Lanai, the small island off the Maui coast. Many people know the island because Oracle's co-founder Larry Ellison purchased all but two percent of it back in 2012. What could've been a selfish move for the billionaire turned out to be anything but because he's spearheading a fantastic revitalization of the island while keeping its small-island charm. During our stay at one of two Four Seasons on the island (we were at the one right on the ocean), my partner and I had the chance to dine and hang out at the other Four Seasons up in the mountains. To be sure, the landscape isn't what we expected from Hawaii—lush pine trees, cooler temperatures and no ocean for miles (only 8.8, but still). However, there's a new twist that makes me want to book a room. Stat!

Officially launching on November 1, Four Seasons Hotel Lanai at Koele, A Sensei Retreat re-opens after several years of renovations to become the first-ever adults-only wellness retreat under the Four Seasons umbrella. And, perhaps best of all, it's all-inclusive (in a Four Seasons kind of way). Like the Four Seasons Resort Lanai, this property is owned by Ellison and is exactly what you'd expect from someone of his financial status: Luxury on top of luxury with a side of luxury if you request it.

Among the MANY services and amenities at the new property, which requires a three-night minimum stay, are an on-site Sensei by Nobu restaurant, a gorgeous spa, an outdoor pool, a massive variety of fitness classes, zip lines, an 18-hole golf course and a personal sensei guide who will help create the perfect getaway from the moment your feet touch the sacred Lanai soil.

Who's ready for a couple weeks here?

Check out the web site for full details on this spectacular new adults-only resort and start planning your next kid-free adventure.

In addition to writing about vacation experiences paid for with their own money, writers for Travel Like An Adult often travel at the expense of featured properties or destinations in exchange for coverage consideration. However, the Travel Like An Adult editors will never publish a recommendation for any reason if we do not find the vacation experience up to our standards. We provide honest feedback and will never recommend a place simply because we stayed there for free or at a discount. Similarly, sponsored posts are marked accordingly. Thank you!
